BUSINESS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
AUDITS, REVIEWS AND COMPILATION
Our firm provides three types of engagements. Assurance refers to the reliability of a client's assertion in the financial statements. The types of engagements and levels of assurance are explained below: Audit - an intensive examination with the highest level of assurance. This means the financial statements are free of material misstatement and prepared according to Canadian generally accepted accounting principles. The audit procedures used comply with generally accepted auditing standards. The nature of the auditors' report expresses a positive assurance opinion. Review - some analytical procedures conducted with limited assurance. This means the financial statements are plausible and prepared according to Canadian generally accepted accounting principles. The review procedures consist of enquiry, discussion, and analytical. The nature of the accountants' report expresses a negative assurance opinion which means nothing has come to the attention of the accountant to suggest otherwise. Compilation - (also known as Notice to Reader) is based upon client information provided and used primarily for internal use. This means the financial statements are simply arranged from client information and there is no level of assurance expressed. The nature of the accountants' report expresses no opinion which means there is a caution on their use by external users.
